Stories from the octopus
Pride Month 2023 was odd. Starting with the Dylan Mulvaney outrage, it was the first pride month I remember being not defined by queer joy but heterosexual resentment.
Colin Brown provided a valuable insight and a call to action when I interviewed him. The insight: straight allies are necessary for safe queer spaces. The call to action: they need to step up to the plate now.
I documented our conversation for MullenLowe below.
INKBlots
The MullenLowe rebrand happened the same week all the interns first walked into 2 Drydock Ave and grabbed their company laptops. As we slowly became more familiar with MullenLowe, MullenLowe became more familiar with the rebrand. The interns and the rebrand grew together.
When briefed on creating a commemorative post thanking the interns, Sydney and I harnessed what made the rebrand so successful. The most essential part of MullenLowe’s rebrand is that each employee could create their own octopus.
We pitched that each intern created their own INKblot, articulating their success through the unpredictable curves and stains of the mark they made.
MullenLowe bought some ink, every MullenLowe intern in America blotted, and the results are below.
